Abstract
The primary aim of the study is to examine the employability of disadvantaged jobseekers in the convergence regions from a territorial and structural perspective and to propose alternatives for mobilizing the labour potential. The geographical basis of the survey were the districts to be developed with a complex programme, and the related questionnaires were filled in by 739 persons. Issues examined included employee aptitude, success and satisfaction factors, job choice motivation, job search and retention techniques, propensity to mobility and training, entrepreneurial willingness, as well as career building awareness. Although in some cases gender differences proved to be more important than the differences by qualification, the most significant dividing line was education. Another important differentiating factor was the persistent absence from the primary labour market, which mainly manifests itself in the disadvantages, different living conditions, strategies and vision of public work programme participants.
