Abstract

In the past five years, the number of articles and studies dealing with capitalism has increased. Questioning the sustainability of the system, associating capitalism with unfavourable trends, as well as doubts about the use of the term itself have also been included in the scope of this topic. The articles cover a broad range of issues and they are basically negative and critical. The aim of my study is to review some aspects of thinking about capitalism based on publications from the last five years, highlighting the fact that the criticism of capitalism has become a central theme of discussion today. My goal is also to identify contemporary trends in the topic by presenting a number of relevant articles.
At the beginning of the article I elaborate on the concept of capitalism, including the Marxist viewpoint, as well as the development of the concept until 2008, which was a turning point since due to the economic recession the trust in the self-regulating ability of capitalist markets was questioned. After the overview of the concept, I discuss thinking about capitalism in different contexts, through the review of four publicationson capitalism and its effects.
On this basis, capitalism can be described as a constantly changing concept that may include numerous topics. Since it is still developing it provides opportunity for further investigations.
