Abstract

Beside the tender-related activities the role of innovation and research exploitation – which has a primary importance in the reputation of higher education institutions – is becoming more and more significant at University of Pécs. Since 2006 it has been the mission of the Innovation Committee and the Research Exploitation and Technology Transfer Office to provide legal support for the research results and inventions of the university as well as to manage the utilization of innovations.
In the framework of the project called “The development of technology and knowledge transfer in the university knowledge bases of South-Transdanubian Region” launched in 2009, the objective was set to develop the Innovation Strategy from 2010 to 2020.
The aim of the strategy is to make University of Pécs the primary knowledge basis and internationally acknowledged research and innovation centre of the region.
As the first phase of the strategy development, following the analysis of Hungarian and international examples, it is necessary to define the main elements of the content and work out the schedule of accomplishment.
The development of the strategy requires extensive cooperation. The thematic and horizontal analyses are carried out by work teams under the coordination of team leaders. The publicity of the work and planning takes place – among other means of communication – on the website maintained by the University of Pécs.
