Claudel, Supervielle : poètes entre deux mondes

Resumen

In addition to being big travellers, Paul Claudel and Jules Supervielle are also great experimenters of literary forms. In this paper, we examine the relationship between journey and spirituality from the point of view of their long verses (“versets”). This biblical form was used by Claudel in Cinq grandes odes, and chosen by Supervielle in several volumes of poetry (Débarcadères, Gravitations, Fable du monde). Influenced by the Bible and Catholic liturgy, Claudel meditated on the role of the poet and also the divine order of the universe. Supervielle adapted this modern poetic genre to his quest for liberty and movement in order to show the poetic power of prose.
