L’opera “regina” di Lorenzo Spirito Gualtieri: analisi della tradizione testuale dell’Altro Marte

Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the historical context in which Lorenzo Spirito Gualtieri lived and worked as a public official, as a copyist and illuminator, and as an author. The second part of the article focuses on his literary output, paying a special attention to his largest work: the Altro Marte. This study provides new insights into the textual tradition of the Altro Marte, throwing light on the history of the witnesses and trying to explain the manner in which Gualtieri worked and spread his poem.
