Résumé

The words convenance "convenience" and résistance "resistence" are not a priori in a relation of opposition. However, as their form is similar and their meaning is opposite, they may be conceived by linguistic awareness as antonyms. In his essay Mr Tourrel attempts to reveal whether there is semantic opposition between the words. Proceeding from a lexicographic definition illustrated by examples, he examines whether the two words can be adjusted to the same semantic axis, whether they are in a relation of logical presupposition, and whether they are of opposite semantic value.
