Abstract

The aim of this paper is to point out that Toinette, the last servant of Molière in Le Malade Imaginaire, "The Hypochondriac", is a more complex, more unique, and less typified character than servants in his other works. During his authorship, Molière employed many different methods which can be recognized in the role of Toinette, however, inseparably. Even if her role is composed of the elements of several types, these components constitute a perfect totality.
